Product Background: USM-CARRDECC and DOST –PCARRD initiated a Native Chicken Production Project at Barangay Del Carmen, Pres. Roxas. The LGU has adopted the project as its OTOP which will be implemented throughout the whole municipality. DTI will assist in the development of business enterprise among the growers.
Product Description: Native chicken are grown from locally available chicken strain such as “Jolo”. It is grown in open range, with minimal commercial feed inputs during early stages (day 1 to 30). It collected for marketing upon reaching 6 months old or about 1 kg in live weight.
Product Lines: Native Chicken (live) weighing up to 1 kilogram.
Product History: Growing of native chicken has been a backyard activity in rural families. They are raised to augment income and undertaken on an individual basis. Recent efforts by USM-CARRDEC and DOST PCCARD are focused on providing a systematic approach to raising of native chicken in a community basis.

How many OTOP SMEs in the town? Mr. Allan Pepito as producer of native chicken day-old-chicks for distribution to about 30 growers in various barangays of Pres. Roxas.
About the Town:
Geography: The municipality of President Roxas is bounded on the north by the Municipality of Arakan, on the south by Kidapawan, on the west by Matalam and on the east by the Municipality of Magpet. The municipality has a total land area of 41,860 hectares or 6.38 % of the province’s land area. Major soil types are Hydrosol and Quilada  Sandy Clay Loam. Lowland area is about 823 hectares, upland area – 4,682 hectares, and mountainous – 36,355 hectares.
History: Barrio Kabacan, renamed barrio President Roxas was insignificant area before 1951. It was Bario Labu-o, the seat of Manobo Chieftain Datu Guabong Linog, that was thriving even before the outbreak of the second world war. The Manobos, the natives North-West of Kidapawan, have long ago learned to co-exist with the new setllers from villages as is common to other tribes. They were interspersed throughout in their respective family clans. Forest games was abundant at that time in which this natives depend in part for their subsistence.

Language: Cebuano, Hiligaynon, Ilocano and Manobo dialects
Major Industries: A major producer of corn  with area planted of 5,540  hectares and production of  14,040  tons per year.
