RRDEN TWO QUARTERLY MEETINGS HELD

The Regional Research and Development Network (RRDEN) Quarterly Meetings were conducted on September 15-16, 2009 and October 16, 2009 respectively, at Department of Agriculture-Central Mindanao Integrated Agricultural Research Center (DA-CEMIARC), Amas, Kidapawan City.
The RRDEN meetings were conducted in order to mobilize the Regional Research, Development and Extension (RDE) Network, identify respective roles and responsibilities of all research institutions both public and private as entry point of convergence, strengthen linkages, complementation and collaboration among Research Development and Extension network members for a unified plan and a common direction and to formulate, update and implement Regional Integrated Research, Development/Extension Agenda and Program (RIRDEAP) in the region.. 30- YEAR OLD COFFEE CAN STILL BE PRODUCTIVE

At the Department of Agriculture 12- Central Mindanao Integrated Agricultural Research Center (DA-CEMIARC), Kidapawan City, Researchers Felix P. Amancio and Jeanette H. Arnado, found out that 30 – year old coffee trees were still productive through rejuvenation.
Coffee is a beverage crop that is always present in the Filipino diet. This is grown in many regions of the Philippines where soil is deep, friable, well-drained, loamy and rich in nutrients. They are usually grown through seeds, but in time, the trees grow tall and production diminishes and cost of production increases. A technology option called rejuvenation can be employed. This is more advantageous than planting seedlings because initial production is attained at earlier time. Read the rest of this entry »
A REALLY PROMISSING MANGO HARVEST!

Featured before (July, 2008) in the Agriculture Magazine was MR. FRANCISCO “FRANK” N. SACDALAN, of Midsayap, North Cotabato, whose enthusiasm for off-season mango production has all the more captured his best interests.
To further enhance information dissemination, Frank has willingly agreed with the Department of Agriculture 12- Central Mindanao Integrated Agricultural Research Center (DA-CEMIARC) Amas, Kidapawan City, to process document his off-season mango production. This process documentation involved photo/video documentation, recording of various cultural methods, management practices, pests and diseases control, etc. as well as other farming techniques he has implemented.
